For last two or three days, a gloomy sadness had enclaved mother's face. She seemed to be upset. She was surely disturbed deep within her heart. We, the household (children) were really concerned about this sudden lingering change in her day-to-day life. She did not tell us about the emotional warfare she was going through. All our efforts were in vain to break the ice. She did not open her lips except saying, "I have a headache." At home, we all were convinced that the change in her daily conducts and appearing scars on her face were the writing on the wall for an impending danger.
The mother was a highly God fearing person. She would punctually offer her five time prayers a day; besides this, she was a strict follower of Islamic rituals. It was her daily routine to go for her "Ishaa" prayers after discharging all her religious, cultural and social obligations for the day. She will spread her prayer rug and will keep praying till late in the night.
That day, she laid the rug to pray early in the evening and strictly forbade us not to disturb her at all. These unusual instructions made us scared. Mother's behavior was not only strange but it was beyond our expectations. She never treated us like this before.
The cries and wailing of the mother getting louder and louder as the night was moving. In the silence of night on trip toe I went to peep through the window at the back of her room. She was bowing down (Sajdah) on the prayer rug in the presence of the God Almighty and was sobbing bitterly. "O' Lord, have mercy on us." She was repeating it again and again and her voice was getting louder every time.
The dreadful night was moving at a snail speed as if there is no morning. Whole of the family was in a state of great shock, grief and fear with the mother throughout the night.
By morning call for prayer from the Masjid, the mother raised her head and prepared for prayers at dawn. After prayers she blessed each one of us individually and asked us to offer the morning prayers. After prayers, we got into our routine business. The mother took her holy book of Qur'an and began the recitation.
There was a nock at the door minutes after she had begun to recite the holy Qur'an. No sooner did she hear the knock, she stopped reciting the holy Qur'an as if her sixth sense had told her of the coming hard time for the family.
I found an Army officer standing at the door asking for some elder person to talk with. I told mother; she collected her emotions and went up to door. The Army officer greeted the mother, took his cap off and said, "I am sorry to inform you that your husband had laid his life in the defense of motherland.
With a loud cry, she fell down fainted at floor. All of us gathered around her. We all were sobbing and caring here. Every heart was full of painful grief. News about father; mother's conditions were a big blow for us. We, the children were in a fix and had no clues what to do. The news of father's martyrdom spread like a jungle fire. In no time, whole house and roof were filled with people.
As the days of the family mourning passed, mother gathered us, all under her sheltering arms and encouraged us to lead the life to great success like a bold, brave and courageous person. "Your father is no more in the world, so it is you who have to carry on his mission." And it was what came true. God almighty helped me to analyze the situation and guided me realize my responsibilities. I thank God for this blessing on our family. We were financially very strong. We were established and renowned landlord of the area. The army also very generously helped us.
In this care-free environment with lots of wealth around, Lord, my God took good care of me. He blessed me with the vision that each man has its own destiny. It is not simple birth, dwelling, and death. It is definitely more than that. Every soul has been created for a special task. Look at my father's life. He led it with a specific purpose to fight against the powers of evils. My father's life inspired me to lead a purposeful life. The department made plaque of my father's gallantry efforts he made to defend his motherland and erect them and distributed handbills among the platoons. It was our family pride and we were honored among the ranks. The mother has always said that rendering life for the cause will make you immortal. These teachings of the mother inspired me to do something. Great and worthy of praise. I had a big question before me!! What to do? To this young man with a blank mind, God guided him on search (Talash).
These were the early days when Pakistan had established. Thousands and thousands of people were entering the Pakistan. These were the most pathetic conditions; every family had suffered in one way or the other. The tragedies had left their marks on each face. The relatives had died or dear ones were lost. The parents were looking for the children and children were searching for guardians.
When I heard all these, and personally listened to such dreadful stories, I decided to make a group of like-minded friends to provide selfless help to all those who were suffering. Thousand upon thousands of people were looking for help in finding their parents, children/ relatives and dear ones. It was a very difficult time. All such witnesses were arousing my sentiments to work and look for other like-minded people to carry out the noble work of helping and assisting those in need.
My search was not only just a search. The truth is that this search of mine turned into "Talash" and a cluster of selfless like-minded people to provide help and assistance to all, without distinction of cast and creed. In forming "Talash" was my burning desire to provide comfort to those in need. The true association of "Talash" was the cries of those innocent people who had lost their parents, children or relatives.
The "Talash" was the ultimate end of savage and cruel people. The "Talash" proved to be a snowball rolling down the hill; its vision and work kept on increasing day by day. We took all measures to eradicate the social and cultural evils from the society.
We have the cooperation of some high-ups and with the able assistance of all such patrons, we are heading toward our utmost goal. The "Talash" is after neither a name or fame nor bread and butter. It is ever-increasing circle of noble activities to develop education, health and other important factors of day to da}' life in the present day society as our national duty. The abundant resources were always at our end; there also came the governmental and other NGOs' assistance in our noble task.
In 2007, the association suffered a serious shock as one of the creators of "Talash" went to his eternal home. As aggrieved friends gathered after this demised death, they decided to carry on the noble work as a charity organization and to form it on scientific principles to serve the suffering people. In short, this will be a non-profitable organization, working with a clear mind to keep away from fame and wealth. The service rendered by "Talash" till now will not be publicized at any cost. With the cooperation and help of some people, we have laid the foundation with fresh energies in our God Almighty to attain the noble aim of serving the humanity.
We begin in your name O' God
We will serve to the end in your name
